Dishwasher repair in HA1

HA1 · Harrow · Harrow on the Hill · West Harrow
Harrow packs three quite different kinds of repair visit into one district, and we can meet all three in a morning. Up towards Harrow on the Hill the stock is Victorian villas, deep-planned houses where the kitchen has usually been pushed out into the side return. That leaves a long galley with worktop down one side and a wall about a metre from it, and the whole job is often simply getting the washing machine or dishwasher fully forward; once it is out on a floor protector, the pump filter, the hoses and the back panel are all reachable. West Harrow is the opposite proposition: long interwar streets of bay-fronted semis and terraces, freestanding machines in a kitchen at the back of the house, a side passage to carry tools through, and a waste hose run out to a gully. Those are the quickest visits we make in HA1. Then there is the town centre around Greenhill, Station Road and St Ann’s Shopping Centre, where the purpose-built blocks have compact fitted kitchens with the washing machine, dishwasher and fridge all integrated behind decor doors. An integrated machine needs its decor door, the mounting brackets and often the plinth off before anything can be tested honestly, so a flat near Harrow on the Hill station takes noticeably longer than a freestanding machine in a West Harrow semi. Saying which you have when you book is genuinely useful, because it changes what gets carried in from the van first. Access decides most of the rest. In the blocks off Greenhill and College Road we need the buzzer answered and, where there is one, the lift: several of the older blocks have a lift that will not take a full-size appliance lying flat, and a washer does not go up four flights unplanned. If there is a concierge, a fob or an entry code, please have it ready. Parking is controlled across most of the centre, so let us know whether your street is permit-only or has a visitor bay; near Station Road and the shopping centre we often leave the van a few minutes’ walk back and carry the toolbag in. The streets around Lowlands Recreation Ground and the ones climbing the Hill are narrow and fill up early on weekdays. One local constant worth planning for: this corner of West London is a hard water area, and in Harrow we pull out far more scaled-up heating elements from washing machines and dishwashers than we do failed control boards. From our Northolt base the run up through South Harrow is a short one, although we will always give you a time window rather than a promised arrival.

Tell us when you book that it is a flat, which floor you are on and whether there is a lift, because several of the older Harrow blocks have a lift too small to take a full-size appliance lying flat. We also need the buzzer answered at the time of the visit, or the entry code, fob or concierge arrangement sorted in advance, otherwise the slot is spent standing outside.
It depends on your street, because parking is controlled across most of the centre. Around Station Road, St Ann’s Shopping Centre and Harrow on the Hill station we often leave the van a few minutes’ walk back and carry the toolbag in. If your address has a permit bay, needs a visitor permit, or sits behind a height barrier in an undercroft car park, please say so when you book.
Usually yes, and it is the layout we meet most often on the streets around Harrow on the Hill. The machine has to come fully forward before the filter, the hoses and the rear panel can be reached, so clear about a metre in front of it and lift any loose matting. If the worktop has been sealed down onto the machine, or a later floor has been laid up to its feet, mention that first.
Call or send the booking form with your postcode, the appliance, the make and what it is actually doing: the noise, the error code, whether it fills, drains or heats. We work Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 18:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00. You get a time window and a call before we set off. We will not promise an exact arrival, because the job before yours can overrun.
The call-out charge is £80 per visit and labour is included on most repairs. More extensive or complex work needs additional labour, which is quoted and agreed with you before it starts rather than added afterwards. Parts are charged on top and always quoted before they are fitted. The specific part we repair or replace carries a three-month guarantee, which is not a whole-appliance warranty.
