Not always right outside the door. Some of the turnings off Willow Tree Lane and Charville Lane are too tight to swing a long van into, so we leave it a little further along and walk the tools and parts down to you. It adds a few minutes at each end of the visit and nothing else, but it is worth mentioning when you book so the engineer who attends knows what to expect.
My kitchen in a Hayes End semi is a tight galley — will the machine actually come out?
Almost always, yes. Washing machines in those interwar semis are usually boxed in by units that were fitted around them, so the first part of the visit is easing the appliance out without marking the floor or the edge of the worktop. Where the kitchen door swings into the same space, we bring the machine out at an angle instead. If a worktop has been sealed down over the top of it, we will tell you what has to be unscrewed before we touch anything.
We are on one of the estates near Yeading Brook and the machine is in an unheated garage. Is that a problem?
Not at all, and it often makes the repair quicker, because we can reach all four sides of the appliance instead of working through a gap in a fitted kitchen.
