Questions we get asked most
The cross-cutting ones. Appliance-specific questions live on each repair page, and district questions live on each area page.
About the visit and the price
How does the £80 call-out charge work?
It is £80 per visit, payable whether or not the appliance turns out to be worth repairing, because it covers the attendance and the diagnosis. Labour is included for most repairs. More extensive or complex jobs may require additional labour, which we always quote and agree with you before starting. Parts are charged on top and always quoted before we fit them.
What happens if my appliance cannot be economically repaired?
You get a straight answer and a written diagnosis, and you pay the £80 and nothing more. Knowing exactly what has failed and roughly what it would take to put right is worth having before you spend money on a replacement, and it means you are not guessing at the shop counter.
Do I need to be at home for the whole arrival window?
Someone over eighteen needs to be there to let us in and to authorise the work, but you do not need to wait around all day. We book two-hour arrival windows rather than fixed times, and we call or text when we are about thirty minutes away so you can get back if you have stepped out.
How quickly can you come out?
The calendar on this site shows arrival windows that are genuinely free, up to four weeks ahead, and picking one confirms it straight away with no waiting for a call back. The earliest slot we can offer online is three hours from now. If you need something sooner than the calendar shows, ring us and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
What is covered by the three-month guarantee?
The specific part we replaced, for three months from the date it is fitted, including the labour to put it right if that part fails. It is not a warranty on the whole appliance, so an unrelated fault later on is a new job. We say this plainly because a guarantee that sounds broader than it is causes arguments later.
How do I pay, and will I get a receipt?
Cash, card or bank transfer on the day. You get an itemised invoice showing the call-out, any parts and the total, along with the guarantee dates for anything we replaced. There is no separate tax line on it because the price we quote is the price you pay.
