Hayes and Harlington sit a short run west of our Northolt base, so UB3 is one of the districts we work in most often. The housing here tells us what to expect before we knock. A lot of Hayes is interwar semis and post-war estates, and those kitchens have usually been refitted once or twice but still hold freestanding machines: a washing machine under the worktop with a bit of slack in the hoses, a cooker that pulls forward on its own feet, a fridge freezer standing in the corner.
