Appliance repairs in Hayes UB3

Hayes and Harlington sit a short run west of our Northolt base, so UB3 is one of the districts we work in most often. The housing here tells us what to expect before we knock. A lot of Hayes is interwar semis and post-war estates, and those kitchens have usually been refitted once or twice but still hold freestanding machines: a washing machine under the worktop with a bit of slack in the hoses, a cooker that pulls forward on its own feet, a fridge freezer standing in the corner. Those are the straightforward visits. There is often a driveway or a permit bay outside, and once the machine is pulled out we can work on it properly instead of lying flat on a kitchen floor. The newer blocks around Hayes and Harlington station are a different job altogether. The flats that went up around the station after the Elizabeth line arrived have compact fitted kitchens where nearly everything is integrated — a washer dryer behind a decor door, a slimline dishwasher squeezed into a run of units, an oven housed in a tall unit at chest height. Getting an integrated washer dryer out means removing the door, releasing the brackets and easing the machine over flooring that was very often laid after the appliance went in. It takes longer than a freestanding machine, so tell us on the phone and the right tools come with us. Access is the other Hayes-specific thing worth sorting in advance. In those blocks we need the lift, and usually a loading bay booked through the building manager or the concierge, because there is nowhere to leave a van on Station Road for any length of time. If your block wants a fob, a dashboard permit or a name left at the desk, arranging it beforehand saves everyone standing about in the lobby. Around Barra Hall Park and the older roads off Uxbridge Road it is mostly resident bays, so a visitor permit helps, and the streets nearest the Grand Union Canal get tight where cars park both sides. One last local note: this is a hard water part of west London and it shows in the work. Furred heating elements in dishwashers and washing machines, scaled-up filters and slow-draining pumps come up constantly in Hayes and Harlington kitchens alike, which is why we check the element and the filter early on any machine that heats its own water.

Frequently asked questions

I live in one of the new blocks by Hayes and Harlington station — how does access work?

Tell us at the booking stage that it is a managed block. Most of them need the lift, a loading bay slot arranged through the building manager or the concierge, and sometimes a fob or a name left at the desk. Sorting that in advance means the visit starts at your kitchen door rather than in the lobby.

My washer dryer is integrated behind a cupboard door. Is that a problem in a Hayes flat?

Not a problem, just a longer job. The compact kitchens in the newer Hayes flats hide the washer dryer behind a decor door, with brackets holding it to the units and flooring often laid around it. We take the door off, release the fixings and ease the machine out carefully, then refit it square so the door lines up again.

What about parking near Barra Hall Park and the older Hayes streets?

The interwar semis and post-war estates in that part of Hayes usually have a driveway or a resident permit bay, so a visitor permit or a space on the drive is ideal. The narrow roads running down towards the Grand Union Canal fill up with cars parked both sides, so let us know if the nearest legal spot is a walk away.

How do I book a repair in Hayes or Harlington?

Call or book online and describe the appliance, the make and what it is actually doing. We work Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 18:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00, and we agree a slot with you rather than promising an exact arrival time. The engineer who attends rings ahead before setting off from Northolt.

What does a repair visit in UB3 cost?

The call-out charge is £80 per visit and labour is included for most repairs. More extensive or complex work needs extra labour, which is always quoted and agreed with you before anything starts. Parts are charged on top and quoted before they are fitted. The repair carries a 3-month guarantee covering the specific part repaired or replaced.
