Where there is a real fault it usually sits in the condensing side. These machines dry by running cold water down a channel at the back of the drum to strip the moisture out of hot air, and the supply round here is hard enough to fur that channel steadily until it barely works. After that we look at the heater and its thermal protection, the fan, the sensor that decides when the load is dry, and the drain path, because a machine that cannot shift its condensate will stop drying while still washing perfectly well.

Most often the load is simply too big for the drying rating, which on a combined machine is well under the wash capacity. Dry in halves and the cycle will usually finish properly.
