An induction hob ignoring a pan is telling you the pan is not ferrous, not that the appliance is broken — a fridge magnet on the base settles the argument. And a hob that runs ten minutes then shuts itself down is usually cooling itself, because the vent underneath is blocked by cupboard contents or an oven crammed too tightly beneath it.
