That means a decor door on the front matched to the units, a plinth across the bottom, and the machine fixed either up into the underside of the worktop or out to the cabinet sides at each edge. Where the worktop is stone or a composite, the brackets always go to the sides instead, and finding them means the decor door and the plinth come off before anything else happens. Then there is the floor. Where tiles or engineered board went down after the kitchen was fitted, the machine is now sitting in an aperture shallower than the one it went into, and it will not simply slide out. The feet have to be wound down first, or the door front drags across the new floor on its way past.
The good news is how seldom any of that is needed. Not draining, a drain pump jammed on a fruit stone or a shard of glass, blocked spray arm jets, a filter packed solid with the last month of dinners: all of that is reached from the front with the racks out and the machine still in its hole. Not filling is usually an inlet valve, a float switch or a stopcock that somebody turned off and forgot about, and again the front is enough. It is a leak from the base, a door seal perished at the bottom corners, or a failed heater that decides whether the machine has to come forward at all.
Cloudy glasses are the one that often is not a fault. The water out this way is hard, the salt reservoir has generally not been topped up since the day the machine was installed, and the rinse aid ran out somewhere before that. The softener unit and its hardness setting get checked before anybody quotes for a part.
